Our Story

Nestled in the heart of old Ravenswood, our used bookstore is full of cozy book-nooks where the scent of paper and the quiet hum of the city blend in harmony. Just a stone's throw from the Brown Line, we're tucked in alongside quirky local shops, indie coffee spots, and friendly faces that make this part of Chicago feel like home.

We can’t wait to see you, whether you’re browsing for a hidden gem or just enjoying the vibe of Ravenswood.s with a spacious and comfy labyrinthine design, with plenty of seating for relaxing with your reads.

Known for our extensive variety of titles, ranging from art and children’s books to rare finds that cater to diverse interests. Our customers appreciate the well-organized reading nooks that provide a peaceful retreat for those looking to immerse themselves in literature.  Our store radiates a unique aesthetic, enhanced by handwritten signs and eclectic decor that contribute to its whimsical charm.

We offer an affordable alternative to larger bookstores, a go-to destination for both casual readers and dedicated collectors.  We thrive in our local business persona, reflecting a passion for literature and a commitment to fostering a love for reading within our community. We strive to cultivate a sense of serendipity, a retreat to softness in the digital age.

PARKING

Ravenswood Used Books is near bike parking, street, & garage parking.

The parking garage on Damen is a good place TO park. It’s only a block away. The cheaper alternative is to park around the corner on the side streets or down the street on Damen, where the meters end. While there is parking in front, on Montrose, it is metered.

Nearby Lincoln Square also has metered and non-metered street parking on cross streets intersecting Montrose Ave.

A word of advice: if you’re thinking about parking in the lot across the street, think again. The mini mall owner has a quick trigger finger when it comes to boots—so unless you're planning to stick around the corner for a while, it’s best to find street parking or hop off at the train.
